What is OSCN?
Open Science Community Network is a community that strengthens capacity, promotes responsible research practice, and connects researchers across Africa's five regions.
Who can join?
Anyone with an interest in open science — students, researchers, librarians, and research-adjacent professionals — is welcome to join, regardless of career stage.
Is membership free?
Yes. Joining a chapter and taking part in community activities is free. Some events may carry their own registration terms, which are always stated upfront.
How do I join a regional chapter?
Use the Join page to sign up and pick your region. You will be connected with your regional chapter and community lead shortly after.
What if my country doesn't have a chapter yet?
You can still join and be counted as part of your region. If you'd like to help start a chapter in your country, reach out through the Contact page.
How do I become a regional representative or country lead?
Active members who want to take on a leadership role can express interest via the Contact page under the "Become Regional Lead" topic.
Can my organisation partner with OSCN?
Yes. We work with universities, libraries, funders and other open science initiatives. Reach out via the Contact page under "Partner with us".
